what good is sitting alone in your room
I shall keep it brief:
Copenhagen is a wonderful city, but I am a silly girl. I thought, this is Denmark, I won’t need a drop of SPF! So I walked all of yesterday and lay in the park, and had wine and oysters at the Reffen by the water, and, to no one’s surprise but my own, left all this with a mild case of heat exhaustion, no doubt exacerbated by my terrible anxiety.
What can I say. If any of you are lucky enough to find yourselves in Copenhagen soon, I cannot reccommend La Banchina enough… I met up with a friend of a friend who works there, and when he mentioned that they are hiring for the summer, I truly considered dropping everything to move here for a few months. But that’s romantic, and I have duties and plans back home; besides, I would miss her terribly.
It strikes me that I’ve been typing with a strange affect. I’ve just finished reading Goodbye to Berlin (I recommend it highly, and no excuses this time, as you don’t have to be in Copenhagen to buy a copy). The book is haunting, eventually, but Sally’s sort of funny demeanour has stuck with me. Ladies und Gentlemen… Please welcome… Fraulein, Sally Bowles!!
